"Hello my name is Nancy; I have had a varied life and career, more by accident than design. Originally from London I now live in Poole Dorset having moved to Bournemouth 30 years ago. I will always consider myself a "Grockle" a local term for a holidaymaker, I constantly feel like I am on holiday here, I find the area relaxing and truly beautiful.
My working life has spanned from Office work to film extra, NVQ Assessor/Verifier to telephone lifeline demonstrator/installer, shop manager to cruise ship escort, market research field staff manager to southern England staff training officer to name but a few occupations I have enjoyed
For four years I was a Hospital volunteer in Pool hospital on Friday evenings helping with refreshments, meals and general ward needs, I met many people with difficulties and attempted to make their time in hospital a little brighter and easier.
I enjoy travelling; I have visited America, Cuba, the Caribbean, Egypt, Turkey, Singapore, Malaysia and several European countries. I have driven 7800 miles around Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania I have been a volunteer crew member on an 85ft Broward cabin cruiser from Venezuela to Trinidad where I met many interesting characters on route.
I am a member of the Square-Rigger Club, completing seven voyages on the Sea Cadet training vessel The Royalist, a 100 ton brig, the last and most memorable voyage in July 2005 from the Festival of the Sea in Portsmouth to Waterford in Ireland, delivering the ship ready for the Sea Cadets to take over crewing for the Tall Ships race. I have been onboard during force sevens, never experiencing any problems except exhilaration as the ship rolls and pitches. The club is a charity that awards bursary's to Sea Cadets from the 78 sea cadet stations throughout the UK enabling them to experience life on one of the vessels in the Sea Cadets fleet while learning how to live in a confined space with others while sharing the duties of running and sailing the ship.
In my leisure time I enjoy reading, photography, cinema, theatre, walking, dancing (badly) Sailing
All in all I am a very social person, I enjoy meeting people as I find people interesting and fascinating."
